Lake Bohinj

Bohinj, Upper Carniola, Slovenia

---

Lake Bohinj, located in the Bohinj Valley within Triglav National Park in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia, is the country’s largest natural lake and one of its most beautiful alpine destinations.

Surrounded by the majestic Julian Alps, the crystal-clear glacial lake is renowned for its unspoiled natural scenery and peaceful atmosphere. The lake is a popular destination for outdoor activities throughout the year. Visitors enjoy swimming, kayaking, fishing, hiking, cycling, and boat rides, while nearby attractions such as the Savica Waterfall and Mount Vogel offer spectacular views and opportunities for adventure.

Unlike the more developed resort area of nearby Lake Bled, Lake Bohinj is valued for its tranquil environment and close connection to nature. Its pristine waters, mountain landscapes, and location within Slovenia’s only national park make it one of the country’s most cherished natural treasures.
