Abbey Cwmhir Hall
Wales, United Kingdom
Abbey Cwmhir Hall is a large 19th‑century neo‑Elizabethan and later Victorian Gothic‑Revival country house in the village of Abbeycwmhir, in the Powys area of mid‑Wales.
It was built from 1833 onward on a steep slope overlooking the ruins of a medieval Cistercian abbey, set within a 3,000‑acre estate that includes formal gardens and parkland now listed at Grade II on the Welsh historic‑parks register.
The house was expanded and richly decorated in the 1860s and 1890s, then bought and restored by private owners in the late 1990s, who opened it for public tours and events before closing regular visits in 2020; in recent years the owners have again begun offering guided access to the house and its 12‑acre gardens for visitors.
