Agori Fort, situated near Agori Khas in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, is a historically rich fortress located by the Son River.

The fort was originally the residence of the Khayaravala and Chandel dynasties and later came under the control of the Nawab of Awadh during the Mughal Empire, with Chandel Rajputs appointed as its guards. It was captured by Kashi Naresh Maharaja Balwant Singh in 1747, who used it as a military base until the British arrived.

The fort holds religious significance with a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali and is renowned as a spiritual site for the Agori Baba sect. Throughout its history, the fort witnessed numerous battles, including conflicts involving the Chandels, Kalachuris, and regional powers like the Banaras State.

The fort and surrounding area have a rich cultural legacy tied to regional dynasties and religious traditions, making Agori Fort a significant historical and cultural landmark in Uttar Pradesh.
