Satara, Maharashtra, India
Ajinkyatara Fort, located atop Ajinkyatara Mountain in Satara, Maharashtra, India, was built in the 12th century by Raja Bhoj of the Shilahara dynasty.
Known as "The Impregnable Star," the fort played a crucial role in Maratha history, especially after being captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1673. It was a key defensive position, withstanding attacks including a major Mughal siege led by Aurangzeb in 1699.
