Arjungad Fort, located near Bagwada village in Vapi, Gujarat, was built during the Peshwa period by Chimajiappa to oversee and protect the Kolak River and its surroundings. Situated on a hill about 125 feet high, it served as a strategic lookout post and defensive shield. The rectangular fort features strong bastions on all four corners and is fortified on three sides, with a stone staircase leading to the main entrance.
At the fort's center, a Mahalaxmi temple stands along with a large stone water tank that provides drinking water. Though relatively small, the fort offers panoramic views of the surrounding forests, railway lines, and highways. Historically, it witnessed battles during the 18th century when it changed hands between the Marathas and Portuguese.
Today, it remains a quiet, lesser-known fort where visitors can explore ruins, ruins and enjoy its serene natural setting.
