Bhainsrorgarh
Rajasthan, India
Bhainsrorgarh, located in Rajasthan near Chittorgarh, is an ancient and strategically important fort built between two rivers, Chambal and Bamani.
It is believed to have origins dating back as early as the 2nd century BC and was named after its founders, a Baniya merchant Bhainsa Sah and a Charan trader Rora Charan. The fort later became a significant jagir under Mewar's rule in the 18th century, granted by Maharana Jagat Singh II. Bhainsrorgarh served as a fortified outpost to protect the kingdom and witnessed numerous battles and changes in control among Rajput clans.
Architecturally, the fort includes several temples dedicated to deities such as Devi Bhim Chauri, Shiva, and Ganesh, along with water tanks and palatial structures. Known as the "Vellore of Rajasthan" for its impregnable defenses, the fort blends natural beauty with rich cultural heritage.
Today, Bhainsrorgarh is a heritage hotel and tourist attraction, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valley and a glimpse into Rajasthan’s royal history.
