Castellammare di Stabia is a coastal city in Campania, southern Italy, located in the southeast corner of the Bay of Naples between Naples, Pompeii, and Sorrento.

The town sits at the northern end of the Sorrento Peninsula in a natural bowl among fertile hills rich in mineral waters. It was built over the ruins of ancient Stabiae, a Roman resort village destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 that also buried Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The city has been a popular tourist destination since Roman times, famous for its thermal baths with mineral and sulphurous waters that are still appreciated today for therapeutic treatments.
