Dategad Fort
Tolewadi, Maharashtra, India
Dategad Fort, also known as Sundargad, is a small hill fort located about 75 kilometres south of Satara in the Patan taluka of Maharashtra, India, with its base village at Tolewadi.
The fort sits atop a high tableland in the Bamnoli hill range at an elevation of roughly 3,425 feet, surrounded by steep escarpments and accessible by a short, easy trek of about 30–45 minutes from Tolewadi.
Historically held by the Patankar Deshmukhs under the Marathas and later captured by the British in 1818, the compact three‑acre fort has a main gate and a small staircase to the top, along with a deep 100‑foot rock‑cut well, a carved Shivalinga, several water tanks, and large idols of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganapati, making it a quiet, heritage‑filled trekking spot suitable for day trips from Satara.
