Dermal Fort
Nadse, Maharashtra, India
Dermal Fort stands atop the Galna hill range in Nashik district, Maharashtra, about 201 km from Nashik city and reached via the village of Tinghari. Part of a chain of four forts including Pisola, Kankrala and Galna, it occupies a rock plateau split into upper and lower sections linked by carved steps.
Though few buildings survive, visitors find a small entrance gate, seven water cisterns hewn in rock and stone carvings of Ganesh and Maruti, as well as a cave large enough to shelter several people. The trek to the fort takes around two hours and rewards climbers with panoramic views of the surrounding Sahyadri hills and valleys.
