Echizen-Fuchū Castle was a flatland-style Japanese castle located in what is now part of the city of Echizen in Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

The castle fell into ruins during the Sengoku period, and in the modern era the entire site was completely developed over, so nothing visible remains of the original structure today. The word “Fuchū” itself means “administrative center,” indicating that this castle had served as a key governing fortification for the Echizen province before the unification of Japan.

Although the ruins cannot be visited as a park or archaeological site, the site is still recognized as a castle ruin in encyclopedic sources and is part of the broader castle and feudal history of the northern Fukui region, alongside better-preserved and more accessible sites such as Fukui Castle Ruins and Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins.

Understanding Echizen-Fuchū Castle helps to see how the Echizen region was controlled and administered through multiple fortified centers during the medieval and early modern periods, even though the physical traces of this particular castle have been lost to urban development.
