Fort Khejarla, located in Rajasthan near Jodhpur, is a 400-year-old fortress built around 1611 for Maharajah Gopal Das Ji, a valorous Rajput warrior from the Bhati clan.

The fort was constructed after he was granted the jagir of Khejarla and surrounding villages as a reward for his military achievements fighting against the Mughal forces. Despite being attacked and destroyed by Mughals multiple times, the fort was always rebuilt, symbolizing the resilience and bravery of the Rajputs.

Built primarily from red sandstone atop granite boulders, the fort features classic Rajput-Mughal architecture with intricate stone carvings, latticework friezes, and ornate balconies known as jharokas. Inside, the fort encloses a paradise of art and architecture, including separate royal suites for men and women to respect traditional customs.

Over the centuries, Khejarla became one of the most flourishing jagirs of Marwar, known for its nobles’ chivalry, sacrifice, and gallantry. Today, the fort has been converted into a heritage hotel that combines old-world charm with modern luxury, offering guests a royal experience with elegant period furnishings and amenities.
