Fulham Palace in London has a history spanning over 1,300 years as the residence of the Bishops of London, beginning when Bishop Waldhere acquired the Manor of Fulham in AD 704.

The current structure includes foundations dating back to the 13th century, with architectural elements from Tudor, Georgian, Gothic Revival, and Victorian eras reflecting the evolving tastes and needs of its occupants. The palace complex includes the Great Hall, Tudor courtyard, chapel, moat bridge, stables, and extensive walled gardens, many of which are listed as historic buildings or scheduled monuments.

The moat, once the largest domestic moated site in medieval England, adds to the site's unique heritage. Over centuries, various bishops made significant modifications, such as remodeling the great hall, adding Gothic features, and classicizing the east courtyard. During World War I, parts of the grounds supported food production, and afterwards, the maintenance of the vast estate became a challenge.

Now managed by the Fulham Palace Trust, the palace functions as a museum showcasing its rich architectural and ecclesiastical history, surrounded by Bishops Park and historic gardens that enhance its scenic and cultural significance in London.
