Gadwal Fort in Telangana is a historic stronghold built in the 17th century by Peda Soma Bhupaludu (also known as Somanadri), who was a prominent ruler of the Gadwal Samsthanam under the Nizam of Hyderabad.

The fort is known for its robust construction featuring massive walls, deep moats, and several temples within its precincts, including the grand Sri Chennakesava Swamy Temple, Ramalayam, and Sri Venugopala Temple, reflecting a blend of Hindu architectural styles. The fort is famed for a 32-foot-long cannon brought by Soma Bhupaludu, considered one of the largest in India, showcasing the military strength of the fort. Gadwal itself was historically a princely state with a rich cultural heritage, also famous for the unique Gadwal silk sarees, renowned for their fine weave that could be packed in a matchbox.

The Telangana government has been actively working to preserve this heritage site, making it a notable tourist attraction that represents the region's historical and cultural legacy.​
