The fort is famed for a 32-foot-long cannon brought by Soma Bhupaludu, considered one of the largest in India, showcasing the military strength of the fort. Gadwal itself was historically a princely state with a rich cultural heritage, also famous for the unique Gadwal silk sarees, renowned for their fine weave that could be packed in a matchbox.
