Gagron Fort in Rajasthan is a historic water and hill fort built by Rajput King Bijaldev Singh in the 12th century, strategically located at the confluence of the Ahu and Kali Sindh rivers. Known as Jaladurg or Water Fort, it is uniquely surrounded by water on three sides and a moat on the fourth, making it highly defensible. The fort has witnessed numerous battles and sieges, including attacks by Sultan Hoshang Shah, Sher Shah Suri, and Mughal emperor Akbar.

Its architecture is a blend of Rajput and Mughal styles with strong stone walls, bastions, multiple gates, palaces, temples, and public halls. The fort’s design integrates natural geography as the mountain it sits on forms its foundation. Gagron Fort also holds cultural significance with Hindu temples, Muslim shrines, and an annual fair honoring Sufi saint Mitthe Shah. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its historical importance, architectural uniqueness, and natural beauty.
