Gambhirgad Fort is located 58 km from Dahanu in the Palghar district of Maharashtra and was historically part of the Jawhar State.

When Jayabha Mukne became the sole ruler of Jawhar, he granted the fort to a Warli chief, and it later came under the control of the Jawhar State government. The fort is now in ruins and requires restoration. Notable features include water cisterns, a bastion, and a small temple within the fort premises. The trekking route to the fort starts from the hillock south of the base village Patilpada and takes around 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the entrance gate.

The path is considered a medium-level trek, wide and safe but without tree cover. Gambhirgad has a rich history of changing hands during regional conflicts and stands as a lesser-known but significant fort in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.
