Verified Gogunda Palace, Udaipur

Gogunda, Rajasthan, India

Gogunda Palace is a historic 16th-century palace and former fortress in the town of Gogunda, about 36 km from Udaipur in Rajasthan, India, which was built in 1567 and served as the seat of Maharana Pratap Singh of the Mewar kingdom.

The palace is historically significant as the place where Maharana Pratap was coronated after the historic Battle of Haldighati in 1776, and it once functioned as his refuge and temporary base during the Mughal conflicts, making it an important symbol of Rajput resilience and heritage.

Today, Gogunda Palace has been carefully restored and converted into a boutique heritage hotel under the Amritara brand, preserving its original ochre-yellow stone architecture, courtyards, turrets, and intricate mural work while adding modern amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool, spa, multi-cuisine restaurant, bar, library, and gardens.

The property features rooms and suites decorated in vivid Rajasthani colours with traditional furnishings and contemporary facilities, and it is increasingly known as a destination for royal-style weddings, pre-wedding photography, cultural events and heritage stays, offering a unique blend of history, architecture and luxury in a peaceful mountain setting near Fateh Sagar Lake and the wider Udaipur region.
