Gudibanda, also known as Gudibande, is a historic town in Karnataka's Chikkaballapur district famed for its 17th-century fort built by the local chieftain Byre Gowda, believed to belong to the Tuluva dynasty of the Vijayanagara Empire.

The fort stands on Surasadmagiri Hill and features seven interconnected levels with secret escape routes and an intelligent rainwater harvesting system consisting of nineteen rock ponds and numerous tanks that could hold up to three lakh liters of water, emphasizing its architectural ingenuity.

The top of the fort houses the Sir Rameshwara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, considered one of the 108 Jyotirlingas, with beautifully sculpted pillars. Gudibanda is also known for its scenic views of the surrounding plains and Byrasagara Lake, which was built by Byre Gowda.

The fort holds historical significance due to Byre Gowda's resistance against Mughal invasions and stands as a symbol of regional defense and heritage. Today, Gudibanda is an offbeat destination known for its combination of history, natural beauty, and cultural importance, attracting visitors interested in hiking, history, and architecture.
