Hill Fort-Kesroli
Rajasthan, India
Hill Fort Kesroli in Rajasthan is a 14th-century fort built by the Yaduvanshi Rajputs, believed to be descendants of Lord Krishna.
Positioned on rare dark Hornstone Breccia rocks, the fort rises about 50-65 meters above the surrounding farmland, providing panoramic views. The fort has turrets, robust ramparts, and arched verandahs, reflecting a blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. It has witnessed many historical battles and changed hands among the Mughals, Jats, and Rajputs, returning to the Rajputs in 1775 with the founding of the princely state of Alwar.
The golden period of the fort came under Ranawat Thakur Bhawani Singh during 1882-1934, known for his equestrian skills. Now operated as a heritage hotel by Neemrana Hotels, the fort preserves its old-world charm with spacious halls, high walls, intricate detailing, and a tranquil setting that attracts visitors seeking to experience Rajasthan's royal heritage and architecture.
