Hindaun, also called Hindaun City, is a municipality and industrial town in the Karauli district of eastern Rajasthan, India, located about 65 km south‑west of Bharatpur and around 150–160 km east of Jaipur, in the valley of the Aravalli hills at roughly 230 meters above sea level.
It is an important industrial hub of Rajasthan, especially known for its thriving sandstone industry that supplies stone for major monuments such as the Red Fort and Akshardham Temple in Delhi, and it also has a flourishing slate industry and chemical companies, while about 80% of residents are Hindus, with Muslims, Christians, and Jains also present.
The city enjoys a dry, subtropical climate with three seasons: summer (very hot, up to 48–49 °C), winter (down to around 5 °C), and monsoon (July–September, with about 800 mm of average rainfall), and its fertile land supports crops such as groundnut, gomti, gram, barley, maize, mustard, and millet.
