Hinoe Castle Ruins in Minamishimabara, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, mark the remnants of a hirayama-style fortress originally built between 1213 and 1219, later becoming the seat of Christian daimyo Arima Harunobu during Japan's Sengoku period.

This once-majestic stronghold, praised by a 1595 Spanish visitor for its splendid tea rooms, gardens, and European-influenced architecture, served as home to the Arima Seminario—Japan's first seminary-like school that trained youth for the Tensho Embassy to Rome.

Artifacts like gold-leafed tiles linking it to Toyotomi Hideyoshi and trade porcelain highlight its cultural significance before abandonment in 1616 for Shimabara Castle, followed by demolition after the Shimabara Rebellion. Today, the national historic site features overgrown stone walls, terraces.

Excavated foundations open year-round, offering a poignant glimpse into early Christianity's history in Japan near the more famous Hara Castle ruins.
