Ina Castle Ruins Park

Ina Castle Ruins Park is a small public park in the Kozakai area of Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture, built on the site of the medieval Ina Castle.

The castle was originally constructed around 1440 by Honda Sadatada, the local lord of Ina village, and was strategically positioned with rice paddies and rivers on three sides and a water inlet on the fourth, allowing supplies to be brought in directly from Mikawa Bay. For roughly 150 years, the Honda family used the castle as their headquarters to rule the surrounding area until they were relocated to another region in the late 1500s.

Today, almost nothing of the original stone and wooden structures remains, but the site is preserved as Inajoshi Park (often described as Ina Castle Ruins Park), where visitors can walk among grassy open spaces, see the remaining stone foundations, and view a small reconstructed tower along with explanatory signboards in Japanese. 

The park is open at all times and functions mainly as a quiet historic and recreational space rather than a large tourist attraction, making it suitable for short visits, walking, and learning about the local history of the Honda clan and medieval castle life in the Mikawa region.
