Jabor

Jaluit Atoll, Marshall Islands

---

Jabor is the main settlement and administrative center of Jaluit Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Located on the eastern side of the atoll, it serves as the community’s hub for transportation, education, commerce, and government services, and is home to Jaluit Airport and the atoll’s principal harbor. The town holds an important place in Marshallese history because Jaluit Atoll was once the administrative center of the islands during the German and Japanese colonial periods.

As a result, visitors can still find historical sites and reminders of the region’s colonial and World War II past. Today, Jabor is a quiet tropical community surrounded by the beautiful lagoon and reefs of Jaluit Atoll. Fishing, copra production, education, and local trade are central to daily life, while the town’s scenic waterfront and rich history make it one of the most notable settlements in the outer Marshall Islands.
