Jagdishpur Fort, located in Islamnagar near Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, was originally a fortified city known as Jagdishpur before being captured and renamed Islamnagar by Dost Mohammad Khan in the early 18th century.

Built around 1715 by Dost Mohammad Khan, founder of the Bhopal princely state, the fort served as the original capital and was a significant political and military center. It features notable palaces including the Chaman Mahal and Rani Mahal, and showcases a blend of Mughal, Rajput, and Malwa architectural styles, with expansive gardens modeled on Mughal designs.

The fort witnessed several power struggles, including a siege by Nizam-ul-Mulk, after which Dost Mohammad Khan had to shift his capital to what is now modern Bhopal. Recent restoration efforts aim to preserve this 300-year-old heritage site, which holds tombs of Nawabs and reflects the area's rich historical and cultural past. In 2023, the government officially reverted the name back to Jagdishpur, honoring its original identity and history.
