Jind Fort
Haryana, India
Jind Fort (also called Quila Jind) is an 18th‑century fortress in Jind town in the former Jind princely state of present‑day Haryana, India, built by Raja Gajpat Singh when he established Jind as a separate Sikh kingdom after 1763 and made Jind city its capital in 1776.
The fort was constructed on a raised mound using lakhauri (small) bricks and originally had massive ramparts, bastions and corner towers, but today only one corner tower remains standing while most of the structure has been grounded and is in ruins. It once served as the residence of the ruling family and as a strategic military outpost and later a cantonment, and its remaining architecture reflects the blend of Rajput and Mughal styles typical of the Phulkian (Phul) dynasty.
Though largely ruined, the site is still recognized as a key historical landmark of Jind, often mentioned alongside nearby attractions such as the ancient fort at Safidon and the Pehowa Temple Complex, and is best visited between October and March when the weather is moderate.
