Kagoshimanettai Botanical Gardens
Kagoshima, Japan, Japan
Kagoshima Nettai Botanical Gardens (also called Kagoshima Tropical Botanical Garden or Kagoshima Prefecture Botanical Gardens) was a tropical plant garden located in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, founded in 1971 and featuring a diverse collection of tropical plants from around the world including palms, orchids, and cacti.
The garden was situated at 1-7-15 Yojiro in Kagoshima and aimed to showcase tropical vegetation despite Japan's temperate climate, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience exotic plants in a curated setting. Unfortunately, the garden closed permanently in 2006 after 35 years of operation, so it is no longer open to the public.
Today, travelers interested in gardens in Kagoshima typically visit the famous Sengan-en Garden, a historic 17th-century Japanese garden created by the Shimazu clan that offers stunning views of Sakurajima volcano and features traditional landscapes with seasonal flowers, pine trees, and cultural attractions.
