Kalinjar Fort in Uttar Pradesh, India, is a historic hill fort built mainly from large sandstone and granite blocks, with walls reaching 30 to 35 meters high and 8 meters thick.

The fort is believed to have been established in ancient times and played a crucial role under the Chandela dynasty during the 10th and 11th centuries, who were renowned for their love of art and architecture. It has seven main gateways, including the Alamgir Darwaza, Ganesh Dwar, Chandi Dwar, and Bada Darwaza, each featuring intricate carvings and architectural details.

The fort also houses remnants of palaces known as Raja Mahal and Rani Mahal, along with many temples, sculptures, inscriptions, and water tanks. Kalinjar Fort has witnessed numerous significant historical events, including resistance to invasions by Mahmud Ghaznavi and Babur, the Mughal emperor, and played a role during the 1857 Revolt.

It is associated with Hindu mythology, particularly with Lord Shiva, and is considered a symbol of strength, cultural heritage, and architectural grandeur in central India.
