Karakawa Castle is a ruined mountain castle located in Goshogawara City, Aomori Prefecture, in northern Japan, built in the 14th century as a branch castle of nearby Fukushima Castle on the north shore of Lake Tōnami.

It served as one of several strategic fortifications in the region during the Nanboku-chō period, associated with the local northern warlords (such as the Nanbu and later the Ōura/Hachisuka families) who contested control between the Northern and Southern Courts, and later found mention in Edo-period records as a historical site of the Karakawa area.

Today, little of the original castle remains above ground; the site consists mainly of earthen ramparts, dry moats, and faint outlines of enclosures on a wooded hill, and is managed as a local historic ruin with an observation deck that provides a view over the surrounding landscape, including glimpses of Lake Tōnami and the Tsugaru region.

Although not a heavily restored or commercialized castle site, Karakawa Castle is valued locally as part of Goshogawara’s medieval heritage and as a quiet, accessible spot for history-minded visitors interested in the lesser-known mountain castles of the Tōhoku region.
