It commemorates the Battle of Kharda fought in 1795 between the Maratha Confederacy led by the Peshwa and the Nizam of Hyderabad, where the Marathas secured a decisive victory, marking their last major battle.

The fort occupies about three to six acres, featuring towers, trenches, and a deep well, with ruins that tell the story of its strategic military importance and cultural heritage in the Maratha era.
