Koldher Fort is a hill fort in the Satmala–Ajanta range of Chandwad taluka, Nashik district, Maharashtra, located about 11 km from Chandwad and close to the more prominent Rajdher and Indrai forts.

Standing at roughly 3,000–3,950 feet (around 900–1,200 meters) above sea level, it is considered a hard-grade fort due to its remote location and steep approach, with treks typically taking 1.5–2.5 hours from base villages such as Tangdi or Rajdherwadi. Historically, Koldher was under Mughal control during Shivaji Maharaj’s era, later came under Nizam rule, and finally passed to the British in 1818 after the fall of Trimbak; Captain Briggs described it as a poor stronghold with no special military importance, suggesting it was mainly used as a watchtower to monitor the vital Chandwad mountain pass.

The fort’s remains are sparse, with only a few rock-cut granaries, storehouses, caves, water tanks, and a small Hanuman idol along the trail, but its commanding position offers wide views of nearby peaks like Rajdher, Indrai, Dhodap, Markandya, and Saptashrungi, making it a rewarding yet lesser-known trekking destination best visited between October and February when the weather is cool and the landscape is green.
