Konda Reddy Fort in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, dates back to the 12th century and was originally built under the Vijayanagara Empire.

It is named after Konda Reddy, the last ruler of Alampur, who was imprisoned here by the Kurnool Nawab in the 17th century and is famed for his dramatic escape through the fort’s underground tunnels. The fort’s architecture is a blend of Hindu and Islamic styles, featuring massive granite walls, intricately carved gateways, bastions, watchtowers, and several levels used for defense and surveillance.

Key structures include the Konda Reddy Buruju, a circular bastion with historical carvings and legends of hidden treasures. Over centuries, the fort changed hands among various rulers including the Golconda Sultanate, Mughals, Marathas, and British.
