Kuchaman City is a historic town and municipality in Nagaur district of Rajasthan, India, located on the Jaipur–Nagaur road about 145 km from Jaipur and 101 km from Ajmer, and it is popularly known as the “education city” of Rajasthan due to its many colleges, coaching centres and schools.

The city is dominated by the approximately 1,100‑year‑old Kuchaman Fort, built in the 9th century by the Rathore ruler Zalim Singh and perched on a high cliff overlooking the town; the fort once housed the entire city within its 32 bastions and ten large gates and is today a luxurious heritage hotel that has also served as a filming location for movies like Jodha Akbar and Drona.

Kuchaman’s history dates back to the 5th–8th centuries when it was a seat of the Pratihara dynasty, and over time it came under the Chauhans, Gaurs and finally the Rathores as a feudal jagir, with its rich cultural heritage reflected in shekhawati‑style havelis, several ancient temples and Jain shrines, and a vibrant local economy that has evolved from traditional agriculture to include salt processing, caustic soda and soda ash manufacturing, cattle feed production and trade in handloom, handicrafts and paddy.

The town’s population was around 82,000 in 2011, with a literacy rate higher than the state average, and it is now emerging as an educational and industrial hub in central Rajasthan, while also being a convenient stop for tourists exploring forts and heritage sites in the Nagaur–Didwana region.
