Kumamoto Castle is one of Japan's most famous and impressive castles, located in the city of Kumamoto in Kumamoto Prefecture.

Originally built in the early 17th century by the feudal lord Kato Kiyomasa, the castle is renowned for its massive stone walls, elegant black-and-white design, and advanced defensive features. It played an important role in Japanese history and is considered one of the country's finest examples of castle architecture. The castle suffered significant damage during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes, but extensive restoration efforts have helped preserve and rebuild many of its historic structures.

Visitors can explore its towers, gates, and museum exhibits while learning about the region's history and samurai culture. As a symbol of resilience and heritage, Kumamoto Castle remains one of Japan's most treasured landmarks and a major attraction for both domestic and international visitors.
