Lignano Sabbiadoro is one of the main summer resorts in northern Italy, located on the Adriatic Sea coast in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of north-eastern Italy, situated between the Laguna di Marano lagoon and the Tagliamento River.

Formerly known simply as Lignano, this popular seaside resort developed in the early 20th century starting from private hospitality resorts that were initially accessible only by sea, with the first permanent inhabitants settling in 1931 after the draining of nearby marshes.

The town is divided into three distinct zones: Sabbiadoro, the historic center bustling with shops, restaurants, pizzerias, open-air bars, and a 5-kilometer pedestrian promenade for shopping; Pineta, the greener area with lovely gardens, tree-lined lanes for strolling, trendy clubs, and nightlife; and Riviera, the quietest waterfront area rich in salty sea air, coastal pines, and peaceful hotels immersed in greenery.

Lignano Sabbiadoro boasts 8 kilometers of golden, fine sand beaches overlooking a clean and safe sea that has held the European Blue Flag award since 1990, sheltered by beautiful pine forests. Nearly 4 million visitors arrive annually, mostly foreign travelers from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, choosing the destination for its versatility and high adaptability with hotels, apartment rentals, seaside homes, holiday resorts, and campsites.
