Mahuli is a hill fort located in Maharashtra, India, approximately 75 kilometers northeast of Mumbai in the Thane district. It stands 2,815 feet above sea level, making it the highest point in the district and a popular destination for trekking, rock climbing, and nature enthusiasts.

The fort has significant historical importance, having been occupied by Shahaji Maharaj, the father of Shivaji Maharaj, and it played a role in the Maratha empire's defense. Visitors can explore ruins including temples, water cisterns, and a broken stone arch called the 'Kalyan Darwaja'.

The trek to Mahuli offers scenic views of lush forests, hills, and valleys, with the surrounding area declared a sanctuary for its rich biodiversity. The best time to visit is from October to February when the weather is pleasant, and the closest railway station is Asangaon, from where the trek typically begins.
