Medak Fort, located in Telangana, India, was built in the 12th century during the reign of the Kakatiya ruler, Pratapa Rudra, and was originally called Methuku Durgam, meaning "cooked rice" in Telugu.

The fort was a strategic military outpost, perched atop a hillock overlooking the town, serving as a command post for the Kakatiyas and later ruled by the Musunuri Kings and the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The architecture reflects a blend of Hindu and Islamic styles, with massive granite walls built using expertly cut stones without mortar, later enhanced by lime mortar and brick under later dynasties.

The fort features three main entrances: Prathama Dwaram, Simha Dwaram with snarling lion sculptures, and the Gaja Dwaram or Elephant's Entrance with elephant carvings. Inside the fort are remnants of barracks, granaries, a 17th-century mosque, and a large cannon etched with a trident.
