Mobility Resort Motegi
Motegi, Tochigi, Japan, Japan
Mobility Resort Motegi is a large motorsports and outdoor adventure complex in Motegi, Tochigi Prefecture, about 120 kilometers northeast of Tokyo, originally opened in 1997 as Twin Ring Motegi and renamed in March 2022 to reflect its broader focus on mobility and nature-based experiences.
Designed and owned by Honda, the resort is famous for its world‑class racing circuits, including a 4.8‑kilometer road course with challenging elevation changes and a unique 2.5‑kilometer oval track that is the only such course in Japan, and it has hosted major events such as the MotoGP motorcycle Grand Prix since 1999, as well as Super Formula, Super GT, and former IndyCar races.
The site spans around 640 hectares and goes far beyond racing: visitors can explore the Honda Collection Hall, which displays hundreds of Honda cars, motorcycles, and racing machines; enjoy driving experiences, go‑karting, and ATV rides at Mobility Park; and participate in outdoor activities such as zip lines, climbing walls, forest trails, camping, and glamping in the surrounding woodlands.
Admission is charged for entering the circuit area and Honda Collection Hall, with separate fees for driving and adventure activities, and the resort is accessible from Tokyo by car in about two to two and a half hours or by Shinkansen to Utsunomiya followed by a bus ride to the facility. The overall concept is to let people of all ages experience Honda’s vision of “mobility” through motorsports, technology, and nature, making it a popular day‑trip and weekend destination for families, racing fans, and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
