Mora Fort
Nashik district, India
Mora Fort, also known as Moragad, is a small hill fort located in the Baglan area of Nashik district, Maharashtra, on the Selbari hill range.
It was built to keep watch over the important Burhanpur-Surat ancient trade route that passes between the Selbari and Dholbari hill ranges. The fort features rock-cut steps, two rock-cut gates in good condition, and several rock-cut cisterns and caves, though it remains largely in ruins with minimal constructions.
From the fort's summit, you can see nearby forts like Mangi-Tungi, Salher, Salota, Hargad, Mulher, and Nhavigad. Mora Fort is a popular trekking destination, with a motorable road up to the base village of Mulher, and it takes about an hour to climb the fort from the col between Mulher and Mora. Water is scarce on the fort, so visitors are advised to carry enough supplies.
