The fort served as the capital of the Bagul dynasty, rulers of the Baglan region from the early 14th to the early 17th century. It was strategically important during the Mughal period, when it was renamed Auranggad after being captured by Aurangzeb in 1638. The fort witnessed key battles during Shivaji Maharaj's campaigns to establish Maratha rule in the area, finally falling to the Marathas in 1672.
The village is situated near the fort, which features ruins of old fortifications and cannons, some recently recovered and restored. Mulher is notable for its historic connection to the Mahabharata era, its strategic role in medieval conflicts, and its rich cultural heritage rooted in the Maratha and Mughal periods.
