Osaka Municipal Nagai Botanical Garden (Nagai Botanical Garden) is one of Japan's leading botanical gardens, located in the southern part of Nagai Park at 1-23 Nagai Park in Higashisumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, and opened in 1974 to celebrate its 50th anniversary in April 2024 as a beloved "urban oasis" brimming with greenery and nature. The vast garden covers approximately 24.2 hectares (nearly 60 acres) and is home to approximately 1,200 species of plants, including 11 specialized gardens such as a rose garden, hydrangea garden, and peony garden, plus a 2,000-square-meter Life Garden filled with seasonal flowers and aquatic plants in a large pond that provide beautiful blooming displays year-round. The garden features a historical forest reproducing virgin forest from 66 million years ago through glacial and interglacial periods to Osaka's laurel forest from 10,000-2 million years ago, along with an art installation by the renowned art collective TeamLab called "teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka" which opened permanently in July 2022.
