Nanuz Fort, located in the Satari taluka of North Goa near Valpoi, is a historic fort built in the 17th century, commonly attributed to the Maratha ruler Shivaji.

The fort later came under Portuguese control and was used during early revolts as a military base by Dipaji Rane, a local leader who resisted Portuguese taxation and cultural oppression. Architecturally, Nanuz Fort showcases a blend of Indo-Portuguese styles, with sturdy laterite stone walls and strategic watchtowers, designed to defend the region effectively.

Surrounded by dense forest and perched on a hill, the fort offered natural protection and commanding views of the surrounding landscape.
