The castle is privately owned today and has cultural significance, having been used as a location by the Italian writer Gabriele D’Annunzio for his tragedy "La fiaccola sotto il moggio." It sits overlooking the village and contributes to the medieval character of Anversa degli Abruzzi in the Abruzzo region of central-southern Italy.
