Pabargad Fort

Pabargad Fort is a hill fort located in the Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, about 50 km from Igatpuri near Bhandardara.
The fort is situated at an elevation of 4,115 feet and is approached via a challenging three-hour trek through dense jungle and rocky terrain. The fort has rock-cut steps, four water cisterns, and remains of old buildings, including temples dedicated to Bhairoba and Ganesha gods. There is a rock-cut sculpture of Hanuman on the approach path, and nearby natural caves add to the site's interest.
The summit offers panoramic views of nearby forts like Alang, Madan, Kulang, Ratangad, as well as the Bhandardara reservoir and surrounding peaks. Although not much detailed history is available, the fort stands as a sturdy relic of the Maratha era, appreciated for its natural beauty and trekking challenge.
