Maharashtra, India
Pandavgad Fort, located near Wai in the Satara district of Maharashtra, stands at an elevation of about 1,400 meters.
It was built by Shilahara King Bhoj-II in the late 12th century and later came under the rule of the Adilshahi dynasty before being captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1673. The fort then changed hands during conflicts, being taken by Aurangzeb in 1701 and reclaimed by Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj, before finally falling to the British in 1818.

It has several ponds and rock-cut water tanks, although many are now unmaintained. Notable structures include the temple of Pandjai Devi, carved statues, grinding wheels, and remnants of old constructions near the temple.
The trek to the fort is moderately challenging, with routes from Menavali and Gundewadi villages, offering scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The fort reflects rich Maratha history and architecture amid natural beauty, making it a valued heritage site for history enthusiasts and trekkers alike. R
