Patan Fort
Patan, Gujarat, India
Patan Fort, located in Patan, Gujarat, is an ancient fort city founded in 745 AD by King Vanraj Chavda who named it Anhilpur Patan or Anhilwad Patan after his friend and prime minister Anhil Gadariya.
The fort, associated with the Chaulukya or Solanki dynasty, dates back to between the 10th and 13th centuries and served as a royal residence and military stronghold for rulers like Siddharaj Jaisingh. Patan was a flourishing medieval city known for its impressive architecture, including bastions, gateways, and watchtowers blending Hindu and Islamic styles.
