Pinjore, located near Jaipur in Rajasthan, India, is most famous for the historic Pinjore Gardens, also known as Yadavindra Gardens, which were built in the 17th century during the reign of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb by his foster brother and governor, Nawab Fidai Khan.

The gardens were designed as a splendid Mughal summer retreat featuring terraced lawns, fountains, and palaces arranged around a natural spring, reflecting refined Mughal horticultural and architectural style. According to local folklore, the gardens were abandoned shortly after completion due to a clever ploy by a local king who used the prevalence of goitre among villagers to scare away the Mughal governor and his family, fearing loss of territory. Later, in the 18th century, the Patiala rulers took control of the gardens and restored them as a royal holiday retreat.

Today, the gardens are a popular public heritage site showcasing Mughal-era landscaping and royal legacy, with a history intertwined with politics and local resistance.
