Plas Teg
UK, United Kingdom
Plas Teg is a Grade I listed Jacobean country house in Flintshire, North Wales, near the village of Pontblyddyn between Wrexham and Mold, set in a quiet rural landscape overlooking the River Alun valley.
Built around 1610 for Sir John Trevor, a courtier of King James I, it is regarded as one of the finest and most important Jacobean houses in Wales, notable for its symmetrical plan, large cross‑hall, and sophisticated interior detailing for its time.
The house remained in the Trevor family for centuries, saw repeated occupation and later wartime use, and was later restored by private owner Cornelia Bayley, who opened it as a visitor attraction before it closed temporarily for repairs.
Plas Teg is now known both for its striking architecture and for its long, sometimes tragic history, giving it a strong reputation as one of North Wales’ most significant and atmospheric historic houses.
