Rathnagiri Fort in Ratnagiri, Andhra Pradesh, is a historic hill fort named after the "Ratnagiri" or "jewel hill." Its early history is linked with references from the 7th century during the Chalukya king Vikramaditya I’s reign, with the surrounding area gaining importance during Pandya and Chola dynasties.

After the Vijayanagara Empire's fall, poet Allasani Peddana settled there with Brahmin families. The fort saw control shifts including local chiefs, Maratha vassals, the Kingdom of Mysore, and eventually Tipu Sultan's forces, who captured and devastated the fort in the late 18th century following a lengthy siege.

The fort is historically significant for its strategic location and succession of rulers indicating its role in regional power struggles through centuries.​
