Raudonė Castle

Raudonė, Lithuania, Lithuania

---

Raudonė Castle is a historic castle and manor complex located on the banks of the Nemunas River in western Lithuania.

Its origins are linked to a medieval Teutonic stronghold, but the present estate began to take shape in the late 16th century when a Renaissance-style residence was built on the site by Krispin Kirschenstein, a Prussian merchant. Over the centuries, the castle passed through the hands of several noble families and underwent numerous renovations, gaining Baroque and later Neo-Gothic architectural features.

The distinctive red-brick tower, now one of its most recognizable landmarks, offers panoramic views of the Nemunas Valley. Today, Raudonė Castle is a cultural and historical attraction surrounded by a scenic park with rare trees and local legends. The restored complex functions as a museum and cultural venue, allowing visitors to explore its rich history and architecture.
