Verified Sardargarh Fort

Sardargarh, Rajasthan, India

Sardargarh Fort, located about 94 kilometers from Udaipur in Rajasthan, was built between 1738 and 1743 by Sardar Singh of the Dhodia clan, a powerful ruler of the region.

The fort is a grand palace cum fortress complex featuring robust medieval architecture with high ramparts, bastions, and massive walls that rise above the surrounding village and forests. It is known for its elegant China and Mirror halls, though some parts were damaged by a powder magazine explosion and later sieges.

The fort's design includes 21 luxurious suites in the Zenana Mahal named after the queens who once resided there, with decor reflecting their favorite colors. Sardargarh offers visitors an immersive experience with its original pillars, doors, underground passages, granaries, and storages that have been preserved and are open to exploration.

The fort commands breathtaking views of nearby lakes, the Aravalli hills, and the surrounding landscape. It has a rich history involving military strategy, royal residence, and local governance, and today it operates as a heritage hotel blending historical charm with modern hospitality, providing a unique cultural and historical experience for visitors.
