Sessa Aurunca is an ancient town in Campania, Italy, located near the extinct Roccamonfina volcano and the Garigliano River, reflecting a rich history dating back to the Aurunci people who were conquered by the Romans in 313 BC.

The town was a Roman colony known as Colonia Julia Felix Classica Suessa and features important archaeological sites including a well-preserved Roman theater that once held over 6,500 spectators, a cryptoporticus, and other Roman ruins.

Medieval landmarks include the Duomo (cathedral) with Romanesque architecture and intricate mosaic floors, the 10th-century Ducal Castle with additions from the Hohenstaufen period and later renovations, and several historic churches with notable artworks and mosaics.

Sessa Aurunca also includes the seaside resort village of Baia Domizia, known for its pine forests and sandy beaches. The town preserves traditional cultural events like the Holy Week and Carnevale Aurunco, and offers a mix of historical, natural, and cultural attractions in a scenic hilltop setting close to the Mediterranean Sea.
